A right Royal result for Northland wineries

Posted 09/04/2008 by Jenny

Wineries in Northland continue to produce award-winning wines as evidenced by the Silver and Bronze medals awarded at this year’s Royal Easter Show ........

Three of Northland’s top wineries won Silver and Bronze at the Royal Easter Show wine awards.

Okahu Estate: Silver Medal for its 2005 Okahu Merlot and 5 Bronzes for its Chambourcin, Chardonnay and Pinotage range.

Karikari Estate: Silver Medal for its Chardonnay

Marsden Estate: Bronze for its 2006 Chambourcin and 2007 Sauvignon Blanc

Northland Wine Growers’ Society Chairman says ‘The medals reinforce my view that the standard and quality of wines produced by the Far North’s small but growing industry is being recognised, and rewarded with a much higer percentage of awards than many of the established regions.”

Congratulations to those respective wineries. Northland is a wonderful place with many creative people and thriving or potential industries. This distinction is merely another example of that.

They deserve the accolades. We certainly do have some delicious wines here in Northland.
