Recycling depots installed in Far North tourist centres

Posted 09/04/2008 by Jenny

New initiative sees the Far North’s first recycling bins installed in Doubtless Bay, Paihia and Russell.

The bins are part of the government’s Recycling in Public Places initiative, a pilot scheme which aims to encourage recycling in public places. The Far North District was one of four local authorities selected by the Ministry for the Environment to participate in the pilot scheme. Locations which traditionally have attracted high visitor numbers have been selected for the bins to enable the best possible assessment to be made of the success of the pilot programme.
