Waipu Christmas Carols - there will be room at the Inn!

Posted 21/12/2007 by Jenny

There are not many Church services where you have to turn up an hour early to get a seat. But such is the popularity of the annual Waipu Community Carol Service, that in past years arriving an hour early was the only way to get a seat.

This year there will be room, even for latecomers - the Church has arranged an excellent sound system so you will be able to sit outside and enjoy it - so bring your deck chairs and rugs, and come and join in.

Such is the popularity of the event that singers and musicians travel from all over Northland to be there. Last year over 100 singers joined the choir and the band for what is touted as the biggest (and probably loudest!) Carol Service in the North.  Many of the cast from Cats to be performed in Whangarei next year will be joining the singers, and there are some fabulous new voices who will perform solos.

Practices will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Waipu at 7.30 on 13, 17 and 20 December. The final (and the only compulsory) practice is on the day of the performance at 6pm on 23 December, when the Lachie will meld the choir and the band together in preparation for the service which will begin at 8pm.
