The Northland region has an excellent health system in place. Services are well spread with the main hospital in Whangarei and peripheral hospitals in Kataia, Kawakawa, Hokianga and Dargaville. The region is also serviced by 41 general practices and 8 Maori health providers.
There is a private surgical hospital in Whangarei and a large range of non-government organisations including Plunket, Hospice St John, elderly care and mental health services. A well-equipped rescue helicopter also provides a successful remote health service.
Northland represents a warm climate and healthy lifestyle with many recreational activities on offer and a friendly village-type atmosphere. A wonderful destination for raising a family or an ideal retirement option. Residents and visitors are assured excellent care in a very desirable location.
