Northland is long and narrow made up of many smaller regions. Some of the place names may be familiar to you - Bay of Islands, Poor Knights Islands, 90 Mile Beach and Cape Reinga to name but a few. To make it easier for you we have broken the region down in to 3 easily explorable locations. Each one has its own distinctive style and it is worth allowing plenty of time to explore each one individually.

Top of the North

East Coast & Bay of Islands

The Bay of Islands and The Poor Knights Islands marine reserve are well known features of this, the most developed part of Northland. The city of Whangarei, historic gems such as the Scottish settlement at Waipu, and the beautiful Whangaroa Harbour add to the diversity of this part of the region. These are just a taste of what you will find on the East Coast.
