Robyn's Nest

Robyn’s Nest Free Range eggs sell like hot cakes at the Bay of Islands Farmers’ Market. Often Robyn and Charlie Ferguson have 15 pullet eggs on sale for $3 – that’s cheaper than battery hen eggs sold in supermarkets.

The couple currently run 750 laying hens, with pullets arriving in three to four times a year.

What began five years ago as a small enterprise to supplement the family income on their small block of land at Kaikohe is expanding into a major family business. Robyn’s sister and family have recently bought 600 chooks for their farm at Towai to boost production. The eggs will be marketed under the Robyn's Nest Free Range Eggs brand.
