Avalon Resort – 2 nights Twin/Double

Close to the centre of Kerikeri, Avalon Resort is nestled in a little valley (seven acres), overlooking native trees and ponds. Guests can kayak in the Puketotara river. The resort opened in January 07, with four luxurious one bedroom cottages. Each individual cottage (Earth, Water, Fire and Air) has a spacious lay-out (60 m2), fully equipped kitchen, and natural materials make a healthy and open living space while the large glassed areas guarantee wide views and lots of sunlight. Bay of Islands gourmet tour & cooking workshop
(9am – 3pm)

Visit with your Gourmet Guide Cedar Corban an olive oil producer, cheese farm, avocado oil factory, chocolate factory, preserves kitchen and organic farm, tasting and gathering produce as you go along. Return to the working kitchen for a cooking workshop and lunch.

Cedar comes from four generations of winemaking (on her father’s side) and three generations of caterers and restauranteurs (on her mother’s side), and is very happy to share the traditions and skills and recipes gathered from many years of experience.

Farmers market tour & cooking workshop
(Sundays only)

Cedar’s most popular tour is the Farmers Market tour on a Sunday morning. Learn how to select your ingredients, talk to the local producers and absorb the local atmosphere. After the market you return to Cedar’s kitchen for a cooking workshop and lunch.
