Kerikeri - the town of temptations!

Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands (Northland) was voted the ‘ Top Town ‘ of New Zealand , but no-one would be surprised if it was relabelled the ‘Town of Temptation ‘.

Makana Confections -a NZ Tourism Awards finalist, set the tone with their range of gourmet confectionary that just scream to be eaten, and this coupled with a glass of local wine from Cottle Hill or Marsden Estate, or perhaps a glass of Macadamia Crème Liquor from Bishopswood Estate is heavenly. If ‘sweet’ is not your idea of temptation, then perhaps award winning Mahoe Cheese would be. Made onsite at their farm, this boutique GE Free organic cheese factory regularly transport their wares to Aucklands top restaurants - and don’t be surprised to see Olivado Oils there too. Again processed in Kerikeri, Olivado’s range of Olive and Avocado Oils are creating stirs amongst the gastronomes as high quality product. And after a big day sampling if you choose not to go to one of the local cafes, you may want to take a drive up the road and taste NZ’s reputed best fish and chips on the wharf at Mangonui as you watch the sun go down on another subtropical Northland day.
