‘Wine, wonderful wine’

When it comes to indulgence, Northland competes on a global level with its own unique brand of subtropical pleasures. All around the north, award winning local wines are combined in Pacific rim cuisine which wins approval from the most sophisticated travellers.

The region is now well known for its food and wine trails, which encompass the country’s northernmost producing vineyard at Ahipara/Kaitaia, and other wineries with coastal and vineyard views and cafes which cleverly combine Mediterranean ambience with a distinctive New Zealand flavour. Karikari Estate based at Carrington Club in the Top of the North , Okahu Estate(Ahipara), Cottle Hill (Kerikeri), and Longview Estate (Whangarei) offer tastings on site at their wineries, with fabulous cuisine available at Marsden Estate(Kerikeri) and Omata Estate (Russell). Vines in Northland ground have doubled since Carrington Farms have planted in the Top of the North, with their first vintage now safely in bottles!
