Art & Music
Many of us find Northland to be a spiritual place. It has an intangible link with things of the earth and universe, and that link enables and inspires creativity.

One of New Zealand’s most famous artists, Colin McCahon, found Northland unlike any other part of the world and expressed its unique atmosphere in his Northland Panels and Ahipara series.
The arts are also well supported by the Northland Arts Promotion Trust that nurtures and assists artists and creatives in their endeavours and businesses.
Paint and Canvas
We have galleries and exhibitions across the region, from the cool, urban galleries in the main centres to those tucked away in beautiful, remote countryside and forests where you will meet and shake the hand of the artists themselves.
We’re quietly proud of our artists who capture a little or a lot of Northland in their creations and take them to the world.
