Education & Schools

The New Zealand public education system is up with the best in the world and is mostly paid for by the Government and following the New Zealand educational curriculum.

From Early Childhood...

More [?] All of our schools provide academic, sporting and skills-based learning. Your kids will be welcomed into our early childhood centres which include kindergartens, child care centres or parent/community run playcentres, and then primary schools, before moving onto intermediate (aged 11 to 12) and secondary (from around age 13) schools.

Here in Northland, we have a lot of excellent public schools and a couple of private schools. There are also a number of great boarding colleges available in Auckland and some students take the opportunity to see what’s on offer beyond our boundaries – after all, Auckland’s only two hours away.

There is little if any elitism in Northland schools – our educators strive to give each child equality in the opportunities available to them, be they academic, cultural or sporting, regardless of their social or economic demographic. We like it like that.

To Tertiary

NorthTec is the region’s largest provider of tertiary education, with campuses in Whangarei, Kerikeri, Rawene, Kaitaia, Kaikohe and Dargaville, providing courses including business studies, health and science, tourism, trade training and more.

The University of Auckland has a campus in Whangarei with students completing their Bachelor of Education (teaching) degrees.
And there are a number of other tertiary providers in Northland that will nurture you into your career in air transport, the culinary world, travel and tourism, hairdressing the performing arts and more. And while you’re here you get to live and play in paradise!
