Reports from around the region show the summer peak has been a mixed bag so far, with rain around the New Year period meaning those campers who packed-up early took a lot of potential expenditure with them as they returned home. Activity operators report good numbers early in the period, but with some drop-off later due also to mixed weather. Meanwhile, the release of 2015 annual climate stats in early January showed that Northland was the hottest place in the country for the fourth year in a row, great PR for our region.
