Economic action an exciting time for Northland

“This is an exciting time for Northland,” says Jude Thompson, portfolio manager for the Tai Tokerau Northland Economic Action Plan. 

The progress report for one year on shows that several projects from the Action Plan are completed and new priorities are emerging in a growing collaborative working environment encompassing industry, employers, Iwi/Māori, communities, local and central government.

The Action Plan focuses on opportunities identified in a Growth Study and contains an initial group of projects aimed at driving transformation of the Northland economy. The study identified significant untapped economic potential for Northland across key industries, including visitor, education, forestry, dairy, aquaculture, marine and horticulture.
