International education strategy for Northland

Posted on August 11, 2017

The new Tai Tokerau Northland International Education Strategy was launched today in Waitangi by Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment Minister Paul Goldsmith.

The strategy identifies opportunities to grow the economic, social and cultural value of international education in Northland, and it will be integrated into the Tai Tokerau Northland Economic Action Plan.

Northland Inc’s Chief Executive Officer David Wilson says the strategy takes a holistic approach to international education.

“International education is not only an export earner for Northland with significant potential – it is also an enabler for our youth who gain exposure to different cultures, connections and opportunities,” Mr Wilson says.

The strategy’s vision is that ‘Northland has a flourishing, diverse and well supported international education sector that is contributing positively to the region’s cultural, social and economic wellbeing through authentic cultural exchange.’
