Whangarei Outdoor Sculpture & Garden Art Exhibition

Whangarei’s Quarry Gardens are spectacular at any time, and now, with over 100 works by 32 local artists set amongst lush sub-tropical plants, on boulders, by the lake, in the stream, they are truly enchanting! The art selection includes works that are beautiful, quirky and fun, in many different media - including something that would enhance your garden, be it large or small.

Whangarei District has the largest (per capita) community of working artists of any area of New Zealand. This exciting event includes high quality work by a selection of those artists, set off to perfection by the stunning Quarry Gardens. At all times over the 3 days you will be able to meet some of the participating artists at the Gardens.

Artists include Jin Ling, Bruce Young, Claire Nicholls, Kristin Kay, Malcolm Ford, Trish Clark, Norhland’s potters group “The Firebirds”, Joy Agar, Aaron Hoskins, Julia Alabaster, Brian Mitchell, Jeanine Oxenius, Jan Lorraine.

SPECIAL ATTRACTION - additional artists working as artists-in-residence, allowing you to watch them create their works of art, while explaining their processes to you. Sculptor Brian Mitchell will run a Hebel block sculpting workshop (limited to 8 people) on Sunday 21 March, Phone (09) 434 6514 for info.

The Spire People’s Choice Award of $1000 will be given to the artist gaining the most public votes for one of their artworks. Everyone who votes will be in to win one of 3 vouchers for lunch at Northland’s top restaurant `a Deco in Kensington, Whangarei.
