Guest can hire comfortable bikes and explore Russell, Rawhiti and the Twin Coast Rail Trail. The Twin Coast Cycle Trail is one of New Zealand's 18 Great Rides. This cycle trail starts in the Bay of Islands at Opua. Sections of the Twin Coast Cycle Trail are still under construction, however the start of the cycle trail at Opua to Long Bridge is open. This 14km return bike ride is flat, easy to ride and perfect for families. Enjoy scenic views of the Waikare Inlet and the Kawakawa River. This section of the cycle trail crosses 14 bridges and goes through a Thomas the Tank Engine style tunnel and various pieces of early railway memorabilia can be sighted.
