Bream Bay has a wonderful selection of beaches with great surf. The giant arc of white sand shaped by the often gentle but sometimes tumultuous Pacific Ocean. This huge sweep of pristine beach is framed by dramatic headlands and alluring but forbidden Hen and Chicken Islands, home of tuatara and tieke (saddleback).
Ruakaka is popular for water sports and the Ruakaka Racecourse where the "turf meets the surf", a surf patrol operates during the season and there is a playground for the children. Uretiti on the other hand is a ‘clothes optional’ beach for the brave at heart.
One Tree Point is a peaceful beachside community with stunning views, a new marina with cafe/restaurant. Further north you will find Marsden Cove and the Marsden Point Oil Refinery, which offers free admission to their visitors centre.
