Bring your torch and visit the Abbey Caves - three significant caves, naturally sculptured limestone outcrops, bluffs, enclosed depressions and sink holes. Extensive stalagmites, stalactites and glow worms
Or Waipu Caves also offer a stunning cave adventure in beautiful park-like surrounds
Mountain bike through Glenbervie Forest – over 30 trails on site!
Enter the Adventure Forest for thrills up high on zip-wire and flying fox.
Or surf one of the coastal beaches
Whangarei to Tutukaka Driving time: 30 mins Driving directions: From Whangarei CBD, head towards Tikipunga, then follow the road to Tutukaka
To do in Tutukaka:
NZ’s Best diving - Dive the Poor Knights Islands or shipwrecks (ex Tutukaka). There are more than 50 dive spots around the islands - underwater arches and tunnels and the largest sea cave in the world.
Sea kayak or learn to surf at one of Northland’s outstanding surf beaches

Tutukaka to Bay of Islands Driving time: 1 hour 20 mins Driving directions: Follow the Twin Coast Discovery Highway via Matapouri and Hikurangi
To do in Bay of Islands:
Kayak up rivers, near waterfalls, in harbours and around Islands
Parasail with unbelievable views
Enjoy splendid encounters with Dolphins
Extreme (or casual) salt waterr fishing
Skydiving is the ultimate rush, and has the most amazing view over the Bay of Islands

Bay of Islands to Cape Reinga Driving time: 2 hours 30 mins Driving directions: Head North to Awanui via the Twin Coast Discovery Highway then follow the tourist drive.
To do Cape Reinga & 90 Mile Beach:
Visit Cape Reinga and go sand dune surfing at 90 Mile Beach
Surf Shipwreck Bay (Ahipara, Far North) – NZ’s best left hand surf break
Go Blo-karting or 4wd Quad Bikes on 90 Mile Beach
Ahipara to Hokianga Driving time: 1 hour 45 mins Driving directions: From Ahipara follow the Twin Coast Discovery Highway to Opononi via the vehicle ferry at Kohukohu.
To do Hokianga:
Visit the giant Sand dunes at Hokianga harbour mouth (from Opononi Wharf) and sand surf at high speeds into the water
A night walk into the Waipoua Forest is not high octane, but spine tingling never the less!
