Te Tai Tokerau Impact Fund

Northland Inc and NorthChamber are proud to introduce the Te Tai Tokerau Impact Fund—a funding opportunity designed to support forward-thinking projects that benefit Northland’s businesses, communities, and economy. 

If you have a project that fosters collaboration, innovation, and sustainability while delivering real economic and community impact, this fund could help bring your vision to life. 

Grants between $5,000 and $20,000 are available to small businesses, business associations and community groups who are working on initiatives that create wide-reaching benefits for Northland, including: 

• Events & marketing activities 

• New capital investment (capex) 

• Health & safety initiatives 

• Collaborative projects with regional impact 

Please note: The fund does not cover wages, loans, replacement capex, staff resources, or retrospective costs. 

How It Works 

A selection panel—including representatives from Northland Inc, NorthChamber, Whāriki Māori Business Network, and Transpower—will assess applications based on clear criteria, ensuring funded projects contribute meaningfully to Northland’s growth. 

This is a contestable fund meaning successful projects will be judged on a best fit principle i.e. those applications which best fit the high level outcomes of the Te Tai Tokerau Impact Fund. These include:  

- Activity that provides the most economic benefit to the region and our communities. 

- Positive benefit for multiple businesses and organisations. 

- Socio-economic improvement for our wider communities. 

The fund is administered with funding through Transpower and Omexom. 

Terms and Conditions

Submitting an application indicates agreement to these Terms and Conditions.

• The funds must be spent on the initiative applied for – or deviations agreed beforehand.
• If the project doesn’t go ahead, funds must be reimbursed within two weeks of advising.
• The recipients for each Project are to provide a feedback report to Northland Inc once a Project is completed. A template for the report will be provided to successful applicants.
• The fund will not pay more than the agreed amount if there are cost overruns.
• The total fund available for the Te Tai Tokerau Impact Fund is up to $450,000, with allocations to projects between $5,000 and $20,000.
• An applicant can submit more than one application provided that total funding requests does not exceed $20,000.00 
• Applicants remain eligible to apply for the Te Tai Tokerau Impact Fund even if they have secured funding from other sources. However, it is essential to disclose any external funding in your application
• This fund is eligible to Northland registered businesses/organisations only - i.e. you must reside within the boundaries of Northland as defined by the Northland Regional Council.
