Digital & Technology

Northland is innovating in the Digital, Technology and Infrastructure space, supporting the business community and enabling industry to thrive.

Whangārei was the first district in New Zealand to receive a completed Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) network in May 2014. The emerging digital sector in Northland presents opportunities now and for the future.

There is a collective desire to increase digital capability across Northland. With support from local and central government the region’s businesses and communities are working together to make the most of new broadband infrastructure. Northland Inc supports the delivery of the Digital Enablement Plan for the region which is designed to deliver 100 percent connectivity and 100 percent opportunity by 2022. This Plan is complemented by the Northland Digital Strategy which Northland Inc developed and leads, and which envisions full digital connectivity for Northland by 2025, using  globally competitive digital technologies by a digitally literate workforce.
