Prepare to be awed by a valley of dramatic contrasts, through farmland and forest, along an enchanting river, capturing historical and cultural stories along the untamed west coast of Kaipara.
The Kaihu Valley Trail (KVT) is a walking and cycling trail currently under construction, Stage One is open to the public.
Stage One comprises two sections of the planned trail - from Mamaranui to Kaihu and from Dargaville to Parore. The sections are currently linked by low-volume roads.
Once completed, the 45km trail will stretch from Dargaville to Donnelly's Crossing, following the historic rail corridor. The KVT will become part of the Ancient Kauri Trail that extends from Omapere to Maungaturoto.
