Northland Inc’s trade marketing manager, Karly Bent, represented the region at Tourism New Zealand’s annual trade event, Kiwi Link India, recently in the country’s national capital New Delhi.
A record number of New Zealand operators, industry and travel trade attended the event, including four airlines, 35 tourism operators, Immigration New Zealand and Indian delegates from 42 companies took part in the three-day trade show.
Holding the event in New Delhi was a strategic decision by Tourism New Zealand - in order to continue to grow India as a holiday source market more resources have been dedicated to the city. The event served as a platform for Indian travel agents, product managers and planners to interact with New Zealand operators to learn about new developments and market insights in the tourism sector. India is a key emerging market for New Zealand as seen in the growing number of annual visitor arrivals. In the year ending June 2017 there were 55,696 visitor arrivals from India, an increase of 15.2% on the previous year.
In addition to Kiwi Link India, Karly also attended TNZ’s frontline travel agent trainings in Singapore and India last month. Karly says the event was a success thanks to the combined efforts of New Zealand industry that took part.
