We have a long and rich history here as the birthplace of the nation, with strong traditions connected to trading, food sourcing and production. Coupled with our sub-tropical climate and our reputation as a place of wellness, sustainability and Rongoā Māori, we are emerging as a quality food and beverage destination for both domestic and international visitors.

These visitors are looking for authentic food and beverages experiences that are unique to our region. They are looking to savour local flavours and the manaakitanga of our producers in a much deeper and more meaningful way than ever before. Together as an industry we are working to develop and tell our Taitokerau Northland Food Story.

The Northland Food & Beverage Action Plan was commissioned by Northland Inc to identify opportunities to elevate Taitokerau Northland's position in the Food and Beverage tourism space. It is designed to help us connect and mahi in partnership with our food and beverage community to tell our region’s unique food and beverage tourism story.

While the plan takes into account mahi that has been carried out by different business units within Northland Inc across the wider food and beverage sector, the intention is to focus specifically on the potential of developing the Northland Food & Beverage Tourism offering through a series of actions over the short, medium, and long term.
