The Tuputupu Grow Northland Initiative has been developed by Northland Inc in response to evolving challenges and opportunities across the primary and associated manufacturing sectors in Taitokerau Northland.

The Tuputupu Grow Northland initiative has a vision of Taitokerau Northland’s people and environment thriving through adaptation and innovation, leading to sustainable and optimal land use choices, commercialisation of new opportunities, and development of value-add products and manufacturing.

The initiative has a quadruple bottom line, focussing on economic, environmental, people, and cultural outcomes.

From Gate to Port Workshops

From Gate to Port is a practical workshop for growers and producers in Northland who are considering pathways to market (or are already exporting) and want a clearer understanding of what’s required and what support is available to help you achieve this. The workshops bring together key stakeholders working in the export and primary sector space, including Ministry for Primary Industries, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Horticulture New Zealand, North Chamber and Northland Inc.

Advisors for each organisation will be on hand to explain requirements, services and support available to growers who are exploring export opportunities.

The focus is on helping growers:

  • gain an understanding of MPI requirements for food & fibre products
  • understand the NZGAP food certification programme
  • learn what’s needed to prepare for export (fresh or value-added products)
  • find out which agencies can support you, and how
  • hear directly from a local grower/producers at each session about their journey
  • ask questions in a practical, in-person setting

    Project Co-ordinator, Tuputupu Grow Northland

I’m originally (and always will be) Irish, but moved here in 2007 and been living in Northland for a couple of years. Having lived all over New Zealand, I can say this is definitely my happy place and still surprises me the amazing places we have right on our doorstep.
My role in the Tuputupu team is Project Co-ordinator and that sees me working on a variety of projects focusing on getting the best outcomes for everyone who works in the primary industry in our region.
When I’m not at work I like getting out exploring with my family, reading and as a passionate foodie I’m always keen to check out new hangouts.
