Waitangi Treaty Grounds is the scene of the 1840 signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, and is a must-do for any visitor.

Truly one of New Zealand’s most historic sites, being the place where both Maori and European joined in signing the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840. 

Highlights include: Museum of Waitangi Te Kōngahu, the Treaty House, Te Whare Rūnanga (the carved Meeting House), the Flagstaff, Ngātokimatawhaorua (ceremonial war canoe), Visitor Centre, Gift Shop and Whare Waka Café.
