Kiwi North - Whangarei Museum, Nocturnal Kiwi House & Heritage Park

Visit Northland's only nocturnal Kiwi House and see the resident kiwi. Learn about native species conservation, including gecko, wētā, stick insects and other invertebrates. Exhibits in the Whangārei Museum include Māori taonga, city development, the natural history of local rivers and forests, relics from early settlers & the 2000-year-old remains of moa discovered in a local cave. Explore the 62-acre Heritage Park where you’ll find the original Clarke Homestead c1886, the unique octagonal Oruaiti Chapel c1859, Riponui Pah School c1898, Jane Mander’s study c1908 and other historic buildings.
